From 2 to 4 December 2016, GREEN CORALS was present for the first time as an exhibitor at the “Fish & Reptile” in Sindelfingen, one of the largest marine water meetings in Germany, with a large sales fair on almost 6,000 m².
The day before, we had driven to Sindelfingen with our aquarium, all the equipment and about two hundred of our finest coral specimens. The Nano Reef Pro nano aquarium, half drained of water, was unceremoniously placed on the passenger seat. Strapped in, of course… Later that evening the system was finally set up, filled with 300 litres of water and the corals added.
The show ran from Friday to Sunday and was very successful for us. We were able to present our GREEN CORALS concept to a wide audience. Many of our offspring corals, grown using 100% renewable energy, found their way to a new home. We promoted our marine biology workshops, distributed many flyers and held lectures. We also sold our new photo articles with marine motifs.
The Aqua Terra Symposium on Saturday and Sunday offered a wide range of interesting lectures on marine and freshwater aquariums and terrariums. On Saturday there was an evening event with a film presentation and a rich buffet. This was a great opportunity to network with other salt water enthusiasts. On Sunday, Stephan Moldzio gave a presentation on the Reef Check programme, which is open to all interested divers, including this year’s Eco Diver course in Egypt in May. He also talked about the current coral bleaching event.
On Sunday evening we dismantled the tank and drove back to Braunschweig. Early Monday morning the corals were back in their original tank. With a few exceptions, most of them survived this 4 day “holiday” in Swabia very well.
It was a really great trip and we had a lot of fun.
Many thanks to Carsten for all his support!
