On Sunday, 18 February 2024, the Westand Event and Cultural Centre had opened its doors for the Ornamental fish show between Harz and Heide.
Of course we were there with our GREEN CORALS stand. Visitors were able to buy beautiful aquariumcultured coral, mangroves, macro algae, snails and anemone fish, or – if they didn’t have a marine aquarium (yet) – choose something beautiful from our GREEN CORALS PhotoArt products. In addition to the usual range, we also had new cushions and blankets with marine motifs.
We also had some marine biology specials that are hard to find anywhere else, such as the Indopacific Coral Finder, the Reef Finder and the brand new Dive Sticker Set Red Sea, which we helped to design.
The wide range of marine and freshwater creatures on display was much appreciated by visitors, and there were also many manufacturers and retailers of aquarium supplies and fish food on hand.
The informative talks also attracted visitors:
Topics included “Effective Aquaristics” on solving freshwater algae problems by Lawrence Kemnitz, an exciting travelogue on the fish fauna of Ecuador by Norman Behr – and “Introduction to Marine Aquarium Keeping”, where our marine biologist Stephan Moldzio gave a talk on the basics of marine aquaristics, combined with a look at the natural habitat in the coral reef.
You could also chat to aquarium influencer Alex from Barschfan-Aqualive in front of the aquariums on the show floor or in the relaxed Aqua Lounge.
With over 900 visitors, the event was very well attended. However, with the large crowd came a challenge: the space proved a little tight at first, with visitors literally having to push their way through the aisles to get to the stands in the first few hours.
Despite the teething troubles, the event was a great success overall. Visitors were able to choose from a wide range of fish fry, plants and accessories, and the lively dialogue between aquarium enthusiasts made the day a great experience.
For future events, consideration has already been given to renting additional space in the KufA House, the cultural centre in the same building, to accommodate the large number of visitors.
A big thank you goes to the Aquarium Club Braunschweig e.V. for their commitment and all the preparation that made this event possible.
We were very pleased to see the return of this aquaristic highlight to Braunschweig after such a long time. The ornamental fish show has once again become a permanent fixture in the calendar of events for aquarium enthusiasts throughout the region.
The date for the next ornamental fish show has already been set:
8 December 2024, in the same place – from 10 am to 2 pm!
